The Witcher Season 3 entered production in early April 2022, which was confirmed by the official Twitter account of Netflix’s The Witcher series. The announcement was accompanied by a behind-the-scenes sneak peek image featuring Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, and Freya Allan, all suited up in their respective costumes. From potential release dates to plot details, here’s a roundup of leaks, rumors and everything we know so far about The Witcher Season three.
The story took some interesting turns last season, and we got to learn major things about Ciri’s abilities. The Witcher Season 2 ended with the reveal of the Wild Hunt itself, with Geralt, Ciri, Yeneffer, and Jaskier deciding to leave Kaer Morhen and Vessemir to venture into the unknown.
This means the Witcher Season 3 might explore Ciri’s newly discovered powers as well as introduced viewers to new foes.
All The Witcher Season Three Leaks & Rumors So Far
As of right now, Netflix and the team working on The Witcher have kept a tight ship about what is going on in production. There hasn’t been too much that has leaked out and, so far, the rumor mill has been pretty deprived of anything that would be considered even somewhat reliable.
That said, there has been some official information released about The Witcher Season 3, let’s run through what we do and don’t know about The Witcher Season 3 so far.
The Witcher Season 3 Release Date
As of now, no official release date or window has been shared for the Witcher Season 3. Given that Season 3 entered production in April, it will be a while till we since Geralt back in action.
The Witcher Season 2 took two years to release, so chances are that the third might drop sometime in December 2023.
Does the Witcher Season 3 Have a Trailer?
Unfortunately, there’s no official teaser or trailer for the Witcher Season 3. This is again because the third season is currently still in its filming stages and it’s unlikely that a trailer for the next season will release anytime soon.
However, we will update this article, as and when an official trailer or teaser for the Witcher Season 3 releases.
All Confirmed Casts for the Witcher Season 3
Most of the previous cast members will be reprising their respective roles for the Witcher Season 3, meaning we will get to see Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia again. However, some new faces will also be making their way into the series. Here’s a look at every cast member for the Witcher Season 3 confirmed so far:
- Geralt of Rivia – Henry Cavill
- Yennefer of Vengerberg – Anya Chalotra
- Ciri – Freya Allan
- Triss Merigold – Anna Shaffer
- Gallatin -Robbie Amell

Apart from the list above, the Witcher Season 3 might see the return of Vesemir (Kim Bodnia), Lambert (Paul Bullion), and Coen (Yasen Atour). One actor whose return isn’t yet confirmed is Adjoa Andoh, who plays the role of High Priestess Nenneke, one of Geralt’s old friends.
In an interview with RadioTimes, she said that she was uncertain whether she will make a comeback to the series or not:
“We’ll see. The books are so huge. And they’ve gone so many different ways in the stories. Nenneke is in the books a lot. But it depends what they want to do with this version of it. It’s totally about what the creators of the show want to do with the material from the books and how they want to swing that, and so we’ll wait and see.”
The Witcher Season 3 Plot
One of the major plot reveals about the Witcher Season 3 comes via the showrunner Lauren Hissrich. In one of their tweets, Lauren mentioned that the Witcher Season 3 will be based on Time of Contempt, the second novel in Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher series.
Netflix’s brief logline for the upcoming series reads:
“As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it.
Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever.”
