When we create a character for a game, is a preset created somewhere that can be used for this mod?  I really don't want to create an existing character over again, as I don't quite remember all of the settings I used.  Thanks!

You can find your character's morph in their respective savegame.das (e.g.: Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Characters\CharName\Saves\AutoSave_1).

Open it with pyGFF editor and go to 16002 SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR -> 16208 SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR -> 16950 SAVEGAME_PLAYER_MORPH (left-click this line once). In the Edit window to the bottom left there are lines of letters (that's your morph code). Right-click them and choose Export to file. Name it something like hf(hm/df/dm/ef/em)_CharName.mor (depending on their race&gender), choose a folder inside the Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override and click Save.

Now you can either use it with this mod or manually put the hf(hm/df/dm/ef/em)_CharName, WITHOUT the .mor extention into 16002 SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR -> 16208 SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR -> 16320 SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE of your new character's savegame.das. Simply don't forget to click Save under the Edit window and then Save As the whole savegame file.

@zloybelka is there any way to "tweak" existing character/morph? For example I have character I want already but I just want to change their makeup a little? or use different hairstyle? is there a way to open existing morph in character creator to do that? I know mrh files open as something you can tweak but not this :(

Hello. I just tried this tool yesterday and it seems to work, but I experienced a weird error afterwards, so just wanted to hear if someone else has had the same experience, and if so, some pointers to fix it.
Also, I realized while I was writing this, that the error probably has less to do with the tool itself but more the mechanics of dragon age and modding.
I therefore apologize beforehand, if this is totally wrong place to ask, but I saw the gff-editor mentioned below and hope that someone here knows about it.

First, I installed a lot of mods, then created a new character. I then used the tool on an older savegame, switching the old character morph with the new.
Then I tried loading the old savegame, but a message in Dragon age popped up listing a lot of mods that it said wasn't installed.
I went and checked the override folder and all the mentioned mods were present and working.
I then tried opening the savegame in GFF editor and under 16006 - SAVEGAME_ADDINSLIST, there was a long list of mods, both the official dlcs and those I had installed.
I guess the information about the mods are wrong somehow, since the game can't "see" them when I try loading the game, but I don't know if it is caused by the way the mods are installed or .
Is there anyway to manually edit those lines under addins, so the mods will be correctly loaded with the savegame?

best regards and thanks for any pointers

As of August 4, 2022, this still works! It was surprisingly easy to set up. I had an issue where I got infinite load when trying to load into my post-makeover save, but I just loaded a different character, then loaded into the save I wanted to play, and problem solved! Super easy :) thank you so much!!

OMG I'M DYING after i saw the dwarf mage hahahah

anyway yeah this is way easier to do than i first thought, you can't "edit" your current face, you have to make it from scratch each time, but this is really good if you're like me and constantly restart, you can keep your perfected face. i messed up the hair tho so gotta redo the face anyway.

i checked and it doesn't change the voice or profile pic settings, which is good

hi friends. I just used the mod and it seems to have worked perfectly. I just got to Ostagar, but I get halfway across the bridge and it just crashes. Is there anything I can do?

*The game crashes, not the mod. In case that wasn't clear

wtf I just used this mod for the first time and it got me there too! I used the autosave generated from after speaking with Cailan and Duncan and now the save won't even load. I can load previous saves from before using the mod though!

Not this mod, lookup 4gb memory patch on steam or if you're on GOG turn your settings down there.

Late to the topic, but I solved the problem at Ostagar and in other areas for myself by going to window mode then back when stable... after saving (using 34-inch wide screen and rtx 3070)

This kinda saved a complicated situation for me today with a corrupted save file where I had to recreate some files with a new character. If I haven't already I wanna thank you again for this tool!

Can this take away tattoos? I've been trying for like an hour now. If this can't is there something that can?  Oops wrong mod. Sorry but if anyone has any ideas how to delete tattoos off a already made character.

"Unable to pinpoint target morph data pointer. SORRY!" error every single time I try to run the program. I've used this many times before I cant be f***ed to figure out why the hell it isn't working now all of the sudden.

EDIT: if you have this same issue, just create a new save with the character you are trying to modify. The answer was on page 2 of the comments
